Pilot House is a licensed 16 bed facility for persons with developmental disabilities. It was established in September 1988. Pilot House provides supervised 24 hour care to its clients. Services are provided in a coordinated manner through an interdisciplinary approach that emphasizes personal choice and encourage independence in all aspects of their lives.

Owners of the facility are James and JoAnn Keller. Eric Chilman is Resident Service Director and Cheryl Sherrill is the NHA. At present three of the original employees are still employed at Pilot House. They are: Connie Wesley, Mary Davis and Lynette Brown.

The facility is located in Cairo, IL. The facility is named after the Cairo Pilots. Pilot House sits on Front St. right in the middle of town. Across the street from the facility is a famous (to Cairo) Bar-B-Que Café (Shemwells). The facility is located within walking distance to several stores.

The City of Cairo and the area surrounding it has a lot of interest and history. The main point of interest is where the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers meet. The residents drive to the area for sight seeing and a great place for picnics.

Pilot House operates on the premise that all human beings possess worth and dignity.
